Fossil Palm Wood and Pearl Earrings
Out of stock
Fossil palm wood is the State stone of Texas! Yeehaw! It is also the state stone of Washington, and the state fossil of North Dakota and Louisiana. Believe it or not, over 100 millions years ago, Texas was once a lush tropical forest laden with palms. As these palm trees became trapped in mud, they became petrified wood (the organic matter being replaced by minerals). Petrified wood contains many minerals, but primarily quartz. Because this fossil is primarily quartz, it is very hard and takes a nice polish. Fossil palm wood has a wide color range from creamy white to orange and black.
These fossilized beauties are pale pink and taupe, accented with freshwater pearl, set in sterling, very light weight.
